Following guidelines set by the World Health Organisaton (WHO), Egypt has put procedures in place to try and minimise the spread of swine flu. Measures are being taken throughout the country, but the most obvious ones are at the airports.
Hurghada airport procedures...
As a control measure, all travellers will go through a simple screening process upon arrival. This screening process detects fever and potential cases of swine flu. If a traveller does not show fever, they will continue to immigration and customs as normal.
As a measure of precaution, travellers are also asked to complete a form with their name, contact details in Egypt and flight info. In the event of a case being reported, it will be possible to contact all the passengers from this particular aircraft.
If a traveller does show signs of fever, they will be examined by a doctor to determine if this is a random illness or a suspected case of swine flu. If the doctor determines that it is random, then again the traveller will continue to immigration and customs as normal. If following the examination, swine flu is suspected, further tests may be necessary.
If you have a suspected case of swine flu, there is nothing that blue o two can do - you must follow the procedures that have been put in place by the Egyptian government. We will however assist you wherever we are able.
