Lomaiviti & Taveuni Islands (7 nights)

QUALIFICATION NEEDED: PADI Open water or equivalent - no minimum number of logged dives required.

This 7 night liveaboard adventure allows up to 24 dives including up to 4 night dives and enables divers to explore Fiji to the fullest. The dive sites in this region vary from steep walls to sandy slopes with coral gardens where you can easily see manta and eagle rays as well as schools of unicorn fish and tuna. Colourful butterfly fish species graze over the reef and huge potato grouper are also to be found here. Smaller creatures such as blue ribbon eels, hawk fish and leaf fish give macro lovers something to watch out for too. But the real draw for the region is the sheer variety of sharks and rays that will be seen - white tips, black tips, silver tips, grey reef and bull sharks mix in with hammerheads, whale and tiger sharks.

Departing from the Darling Family's Volivoli Beach Resort on Viti Levu, this liveaboard trip on the S/Y Fiji Siren takes you through the Vatu-I-Ra Passage to the Namena Nature Reserve and on to Savusavu and Taveuni Island before heading southwards to the Lomaiviti Islands of Koro, Gau, Wakaya and Nairai.

Day 1: Welcome Aboard!
Day 2: Namena Marine Reserve - 4 dives
Day 3: Savusavu - 4 dives
Day 4 & 5: Taveuni Island - 8 dives
Day 6: Koro Island - 4 dives
Day 7: Wakaya Island - 2 dives
Day 8: Disembark after breakfast.

Diving Highlights...

Great White Wall: A fantastic display of white and purple soft corals adorn this wall off Taveuni Island. The incoming currents bring nutrients that supply the corals and when the polyps open to feed create a 'bushy' effect that covers the entire area. Square spot anthias dart between the corals and a variety of gobies can be found.

North Save a Tack: The Namena Nature Resrve offers divers a diverse reef structure where schools of big eye jacks, unicorn fish and trigger fish congregate. Descending to the reef wall we look out for large pelagics and the dive culminates at the pinnacle Kansas with its field of golden leather corals.

Nigali Passage: Large schools of barracuda and trevallies can be seen at the mouth of the channel whilst at 18m you hang out to watch the shark activity as schools of grey reef sharks congregate in the current for an easy meal. Hammerhead sharks and manta rays are also seen here.

Blue Ridge: This is a sloping coral wall with two coral-garden plateaus. The coral bommies shelter leaf fish, dart gobies and blue ribbon eels whilst off the wall, in the blue, hammerhead sharks are known to patrol.
